Goose Hunting Decoy
There are so many goose decoy brands on the market today. I'd like to say that marketing is the biggest factor. People think that without the most expensive decoys, they won't get birds in your face...not true. I personally own many different goose decoy brands, and all are good in their own way. For a canadian goose decoy, I use full bodies, silhouettes, and shells. A few windsocks mixed in helps for some extra movement. For a snow goose decoy, it really depends. Some days we only put out full bodies, shells and windsocks, other days just rags alone does well. Trial and error is what brings success. Geese have seen A LOT of goose decoy spreads, so separate yours from the rest.

Goose Hunting Decoy Options
There are so many ways to put out decoys, but here are my tried and true tips. First of all, always set up your shooters on the downwind side of the decoy spread. And with that, put your highest quality decoys on the downwind side. If you want the birds to work close, you're basically buying time for them to do so. For a canadian goose decoy, I'll set them in family groups, and spread them 10-20 yards apart. The only exception to this is when the birds are bunched up and ready to migrate or for lessors. For snow geese, we generally put out large decoy spreads. Ideally you'd like to spread them out, but you might spread yourself too thin and cause a lot of birds to work out of range. There's really no secret, differentiate your spread from all the rest.
