The vocabulary on a short reed goose call is increadible. And you can easily tune most goose calls to get the sound you desire. A lot of the goose calls are custom made, and there is a lot of manufactured goose calls. Look for opinions on goose calls, or drop us a line for what works for us. And be prepared to spend a lot of hours practicing your goose call. Most hunters don't blow them well their first time around. You can also use these as a great snow goose call. The higher the pitch, normally the better the snow goose call. I get the best snow goose pitch when I don't use any back pressure.

Goose flute goose calls have been around for as long as I can remember. These are the easiest type of goose call to blow. Normally I've found flutes to be a deeper pitch than a short reed. If you're hunting a lot of big geese than this type of goose call can work for you.

You will need a lot of lung power to blow a goose flute well. I've found that the shorter the goose call on flutes, the easier they are to blow. But in some respects, they lose part of their "goosey" sound. Experiment and practice your goose call and you'll get out of it what you put into it.
